Hello friends of Adlandpro community! Again we in AOV-Team are delighted to present to your reading pleasure, yet another fascinating edition of your ever invigorating Article of Virtue, featuring our very respectable community Poet – Cheryl Ellen Baxter.

Success follows the people who control their thoughts and these thoughts control their actions……..

The same applies to me…
When I control my thoughts...I control my destiny.
My thoughts control my actions that will help me be productive and give me what is beneficial to help me attain all that I want in my life
----Cheryl Ellen Baxter

In this captivating poetic article, Cheryl in her very peculiar style holds us spellbound with active and figurative expression while moderately directing us to the promised land – our desired pinnacle of success.

She reminds us that our beliefs do become our realities once we press on to provide its mental equivalent both internally and in action knowing very well that our emotions to our plans determine our actions and that the two emotions always wrestling within ourselves are fear and desire. Fear, we should try to overcome while at "the edge" because it will always hold us back to failure. Let us rather resolve to take a step of faith towards our desire through total commitment because it propels us forward to succeed.

This is one of our best illustrative and evocative Article of Virtue of all time. I had waited since December 2009 for this article and I’m happy I did because it is worth it!

Thank you Cheryl for sharing an inspiring experience with us.

THE EDGE: A WINDING MOUNTAIN ROAD

By Cheryl Ellen Baxter

th

Imagine a road that winds all the way up and around a mountain. The path curves and dips coming very close to the edge of the mountainside at such a precarious angle sometimes and you feel as if your going to go careening over the edge....

..so much so, that you can feel your throat tighten and your jaws clench. Just now you feel drops of sweat beading on your brow and trickling down into your eye.

The salty sting makes you want to rub your eyes, but if you do this, you are sure to go over the edge.

The edge.
You have finally come to the edge!
The edge of your world.
The edge of what is known.
The edge of what has seemed real to you in the past.
But, what is beyond the edge of your world?
What is beyond the limits that you have set for yourself in the past?

Your hand begins to shake noticeably as you reach out to hold on....
But what are you holding on to?
You ponder this question before you take a flying leap over the edge!!!

What you think about expands...and what you focus on you bring about. When you control your thoughts....you control your destiny.

Even scripture says to take every thought captive.
You can develop constructive thought patterns that allow you to focus your energy, define your goals and accomplish your vision for your life.

S

Success follows the people who control their thoughts and these thoughts control their actions.

The same applies to me.
When I control my thoughts...I control my destiny.
My thoughts control my actions that will help me be productive and give me what is beneficial to help me attain all that I want in my life.

Sometimes, taking a flying leap of faith is what is necessary to move us toward our goals. That is how it was for me.
I had to make a concerted effort to overcome my fears and just jump!

Making the decision to let go of my past issues with self doubt and set my mind and my focus toward my goal is what I needed to do.

I'm not saying that you should not plan or know what you are getting into as best you can. I am saying that fear holds us back sometimes from really experiencing the dreams and goals we set for ourselves.

When fear grips you and your knuckles turn white from the anxiety of gripping onto what you know, it is time to move to the edge and contemplate jumping.
More than contemplation is needed though.

The action of jumping will free you and your fear and doubt, and your inhibitions will begin to melt away.

For a long time I had wanted to have my own business but I stayed in a profession that was not what I wanted.
Fear often keeps us from fulfilling our dreams because we think that we have to know all the answers and solve all the problems before we start.

The truth is that you have to start by taking a flying leap of faith sometimes.

Will there be fear?
Yes, there probably will still be fear but the payoff is getting to live the life that you want to live. Success in your new endeavor may take awhile or it may not.

Everyone is different and everyone brings different strengths, abilities and knowledge to start with, but starting is the key element that will make achieving what you want possible.

Another point that I'll leave you with is that your friends and those closest to you may need to give you a nudge every now and again. These friendly nudges may be what helps us fly as we take our leap of faith.

My adventure continues and for me, there are still times of fear but there are times of great relief too. I know that the road I have taken has brought me to a jumping off point where I caught the updraft from the wind and have begun to fly.
There is danger in flying. But there’s more danger in not flying.

I'm including one of my favorite poems here and to me it seems appropriate for the message.

Poem by Apollinaire:

Come to the edge, he said.
They said, we are afraid.
Come to the edge, he said.
They came,
He pushed them
And they flew.

Sincerely,

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Cheryl Baxter lives in Fort Worth, Tx and take joy in the fact that she’s a Texan! She loves the outdoors, animals, writing poetry, the ocean and a myriad of other things.

Cheryl has a strong Christian faith and she’s thankful for the blessings God has given and continue to bring her way. She believes that without Him she’s nothing but with Him she can be everything He calls her to be.

Cheryl has been around the Adlandpro community for quite sometimes now. She is a very inspiring and involving friend visiting forums and encouraging spirited members.

Cheryl has been an active member of Adland since 2004 and has made many lasting friendships including mine. I value her friendship highly.

There will be others here who, like me, have discovered Cheryl’s unique skill in supporting people through direct contact with her.

There have been difficult times for me when I felt pressured or sad or confused by something that I have then proceeded to voice on a forum. Guess who nearly always turned up with an answer or an offer of support? Cheryl.

Cheryl is a great combination of Christian and realist. She is often able to offer an immediate solution or sometimes point out a new direction in which to go. She does this in her own life too. If there is a door to something new, Cheryl will notice it. She will not immediately batter that door down but will take time to check out the options. If she decides that there is something worth pursuing she will commit to opening that door and accept the consequences whatever they are. As I said before, a realist.

Cheryl is never right in your face. She is always busy opening those new doors, sometimes elsewhere and will later return to see how you are progressing with your ventures or challenges. If you are showing signs of indecision she will usually tell you to jump with both feet but to stay aware.

This is a lady with a great sense of humour who is always willing to share your joke or to laugh at herself. She’s a very caring and stable member of this community and when she states an opinion it is usually wise to listen. Her forums reflect her supportive attitude to people and are worth a visit.

I am so happy to be able to review one of Adland’s quietest but still dynamic stars. The lovely Cheryl Baxter.

In Cheryl's article here she shows her understanding of the human condition. As inquisitive and intelligent creatures we find ourselves faced with similar decisions to each other.

Cheryl explains beautifully how to deal with some of our decisions and underlines this by stating her own experiences.

Cheryl has a powerful wisdom, her words need to be read carefully and acted upon. I know that you won't regret it.

Hi Sam Sunday,
It is so good to see you again. Miss you when you are gone for so long.

Cheryl,

Congratulations for being on Article of Virtue.

Beautiful article and so well written with so much meaning. When I saw "Leap of Faith" it reminded me of Church Conference last year. Leap of Faith was are title, so I assume the leap of faith is going around, let's hope so
.

Blessings,
Myrna
