RE: Just Being Thankful

I'm thankful for my health, my family and their health, and humor. I'm thankful for feeling more comfortable during the times when I've had nothing instead of too much of things. Especially thankful for my parents who knew that being confident in the difficult times was more important than wishing for more. I'm thankful for my father who appreciates the small things that others take for granted or other people don't notice at all, and his occasional letters to me, brief but to the point and well-kept in my heart, his unexpected few words have major impact. Thankful that he did not hand us an easy life, so I could grow up on my own two feet. I'm thankful for the rain that keeps us in focus on what we need to do, soon to become beautiful sparkling snow, thankful for the snowglobe of the Great Lakes area, the beauty that distracts us from the coldness.

Hi Sam and ALP friends,

Christmas is also a time to be thankful! I am most thankful for my LORD who came and lived and gave of Himself that I might know God.

May you and family have a blessed season filled with hope, joy and love. Here's a poem that I wrote and it's one of my favorite Christmas poems. I think it depicts what He was sent here to do for us.

STAR CHILD

A small star child fell to earth
With searing firebrand of birth,
Offered Holy innocence...
Giving souls a recompense,

Cloaked in flesh...divine the choosing,
Redemption...the God-child's bruising,
Earthbound for all humanity
In time and space to set men free,

Though small the star, His ember grew...
Even when darkness overthrew.
Formidable...iconoclast...
Expiation for sin at last,

Star child burning into night,
Fills our hearts with heaven's light.

Rejoice in His light! Blessings to All!

With love,

Cheryl
