Casinos - Which One Is Your Favorite?
12/12/2005 10:36:46 PM
I know some of you like to Gamble a little bit or at least be a tourist at some of the Gambling Areas. So, which is your favorite and Why? We just returned from a couple days at Tunica, Ms. That is my favorite. For one reason, it is close to where we live. Takes about 4 hours to go there. It is a small area close to Memphis, TN. We love to stay at the Grand Casino. They have three hotels and they are all gorgeous. Tip: If you like to visit at Casinos, get one of their comp cards and use it for everything. You will be amazed at how many perks you can get. Free Rooms, Free Food, and Free Entertainment. We are not big gamblers, but I do like to play games. We usually have a small amount of money we plan to play with. I like to play penny, nickel and quarter machines. But you have to be careful. I don't max out the pay scale. I may put 2 nickels in. I just enjoy playing the game. My favorite game is Video Poker. Another Tip: Get to know the Casino Host. Find one that you can get to know and build a friendship. It helps to get your free perks. You can get carried away, so just be careful. Only take what you feel you can afford to spend. Have a good time, but don't get stupid. I took $100.00 and played for hours on it. I finally left with $185.00. Not bad. I had a great time and won a little. Share your favorites.

Thanks for the invitation. I enjoy Tunica also, probably a different reason than you. My wife and I lived there for a couple of years. We both were table games dealers. We worked for Park Place Entertainment (then owners of 3 properties there- Sheraton, Bally's and The Grand). We worked at the Isle of Capri before it closed down, but dealt at Bally's for the last couple of years. We had an absolute ball! Lived in a motorhome, went to work every day and in our spare time I was able to perfect my craft. I learned several systems of card counting and was able to practice in most of our spare time. We lived pretty "high on the hog" by utilizing the various "comp cards". Stayed in the nicest hotels most of the time, but always had our motorhome right there with us. It becomes really fun when you learn how to beat the house. Although I played some occasional slots and love playing craps, my real game is Blackjack. I was a seasoned player when I started going to Tunica and then applied the various card counting systems as tools to get the advantage over the house. Blackjack is the only game in the house you can really get an advantage on. And with proper training and lots of practice you can make a good living playing blackjack. I was saddened when I saw people come in to the casino and play a game never knowing anything about it- just tossing their money away like it was confetti. There were a few who studied their particular game and tried to play by the mathematical rules, but for the most part people don't bother studying and practicing. It's that group of people the casinos prey on. That is where the money is generated that drives the whole casino animal. Anyway, we also enjoyed going to Biloxi a few times a year before it was devastated by the hurricanes. That is off the schedule for a while. I currently live about an hour away from Metropolis, Illinois- Harrah's has a small, but nice casino there. Clay

Hello Clay, So good to hear from you. I agree you need to study the game if you are playing table games. I love to play Blackjack, but I am not very good at it. Counting cards is just a little over my head. I do good just to count to 21. :) It is much more fun when you get a dealer that is friendly and likes to talk. Some of the dealers seem to hate their jobs. Sounds like you had a great time in Tunica. We have also played in Biloxi and Las Vegas, but enjoy Tunica the best. The Grand Casino has a great Italian Restaurant. Also love to go to the Sheritan. Do you play online?
