TEACH THEM TO THY CHILDREN By Rev. Dean Beaty 5/15/09 Deuteronomy 30:19-20 “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: Deuteronomy in the Scriptures is so often overlooked. If you’ll read it often, with it’s teachings you’ll be hooked. We’ve been reading nightly from this fifth book Moses wrote. So from Deuteronomy I would like to give this quote. “Teach them to thy children.” This is written o’re and o’er. This command God has given we have failed to underscore. If the church has lost its zeal it’s because we’ve lost our youth. We have failed when they were children to teach them all God’s truth. We’ve allowed the state-run schools to teach the Darwin’s lies. The sinful folk from Hollywood are the ones they idolize. How much time within a week did we teach them from God’s Word? The raising of our children, to the world we have deferred. If a garden is neglected it will soon be full of weeds. So the hearts and minds of children have some very special needs. “Teach them to thy children,” is repeated o’er and o’er. So simple yet profound if God’s ways we would restore.
