I believe people are stuck in an old way of thinking. To do something new would require people to change what the way they have always done things and to change their way of thinking.
And change is hard for everyone. Some adapt more readily than others, some get stuck altogether.
I would gather to say that there is a huge population that are excited and thrilled for the chance to take on such an adventure. But they fear what friends and family will think and say about them. They fear what the neighbors, strangers will also think and say about them. They fear what they see as failing in front of others or being incorrect, to step outside of their comfort zone.
They protect theirselves, they lock not only the doors of our houses in fear, but their souls as well. They are afraid to let their souls play. They are cautious lest they be taken for fools. They keep tight rein on their souls or they will carry them off beyond theirselves. They fear too much joy; their laughter is uncertain; even with their affections they hesitate.
Pride holds people back from life, strange, newness. Anxious about the future and they cannot enjoy the present. People fear failure more than they love life, so they refuse great adventures. Careful to do what they have always done and know how to do well, so they never break our of the dull routine reptition for the new creation.
The soul will never grow tied down, in prison, but the walls get higher to secure, to protect, to enure, deeper grows the grave of their life.
They do not no they can live freely and in faith. Most of all to untie their soul, give it room to breathe, let it play, do not be ashamed of it. They do not know that it is the child of the eternal and destined for greater things than they dream!
