THE  WILES  OF  THE  DEVIL

Satan’s not a phantom but a formidable foe.

Not a figment of imagination but one who causes woe.

He’s ready to defeat us wherever we may go.

He tries hard to ensnare us, at this he is a pro.

His weaponry is vast and ready every day.

In youth we’re told to flee and run the other way.

We wrestle not with flesh.  Man is not our foe.

Without God’s mighty armor he’ll deal a fatal blow,

He can wreak great havoc to those who don’t prepare.

One good way to thwart him is start each day in prayer. 

A regiment of demons are at his beckon call.

They lost heaven with him and joined him in his fall.

He is a roaring lion seeking those to devour.

He roars to mark his realm in which he has great power.

He’s the ruler of this world.  No wonder it’s a mess.

Binding those who follow or those he can possess.

He’s always on the roam looking for more prey,

He searches for the weak or those who go astray.

He’s ruthless in his purpose, tireless in his goal.

He’s the only one who can kill the soul.

Revealed in God’s Word, he does not like the light.

But he’ll be defeated by the Lord’s great might.

So do not quake in fear if Christ is on your side.

Greater is He within you who has promised to abide.
