Whole Wheat Waffles

Recipe: Waffle Iron Whole Wheat Waffles
Servings: 10
Preparation Time: 15 min.
Cooking Time: 10 min.
 
Ingredients:
  • 1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 egg, separated
  • 1-1/2 cups skim milk
  • 3 Tbs. vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbs. honey
This Recipe is considered:

 Low Sodium
Cooking Directions:
Preheat waffle iron. Combine first 3 ingredients in a bowl. Beat egg yolks until lemon colored. Stir in milk, oil and honey. Blend well and add to flour mixture. Mix thoroughly. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter. Pour batter into iron, in batches, without overfilling. Follow manufacturer's directions for cooking times.

Hi Donna,

They sound good, but I rarely eat waffles.  this is one thing I eat maybe once in 2 years.

Hi Donna,

I love waffles but don't have a waffle iron.

I will keep the recipe and throw out some family hints for my birthday and see if I get a waffle iron.

I like the idea of separating the eggs. I have an omelette recipe that does the same and they are so fluffy and tasty. Actually it comes from the Dr. Atkins Recipe book.
