Dear Jerilyn,
As the 3rd Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches, New Orleans residents once again prepare for the arrival of a potentially dangerous new storm…Tropical Storm Gustav. And IFAW will be on the ground, to ensure that the welfare needs of animals are properly met this time around.
Since Hurricane Katrina, IFAW has been working with the state of Louisiana in preparing for the next disaster. This week, the State Veterinarian contacted IFAW to help the State Animal Rescue Team (SART) in setting up temporary shelters in New Orleans, prior to the storm making landfall.
IFAW’s Emergency Relief Team is now in Louisiana. As evacuations have already begun, there will be an immediate need for emergency animal sheltering when people need help with evacuating and are unable to take their pets with them.
Please consider making a donation to today to help keep IFAW on the ground and ready to help whenever disaster strikes.
We will continue to keep you informed as events develop. IFAW stands ready to send a second team, should search and rescue efforts become necessary post-landfall. No matter where this storm comes ashore – IFAW will be ready to help.
Thank you for standing with the animals,
 Fred O'Regan President and CEO
