Re: Why Care about Coral Reefs?

Sunny Greetings from Central Valley of California to Port Rowan, Shirley!

Thank you for stopping by.

I, too, have felt the same way about corals. Only recently, I learned how important coral reefs are to our environment. I think that the folks at The International Year of the Reef (IYOR), NOAA’s Coral Reef Conservation Program and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) along with other organizations around the world are doing a good job to educate the public with the Coral Conservation Programs.

I appreciate your friendship and support, Shirley.

Sunny Greetings from Central Valley of California to Calgary, Jen!

Thank you for stopping by and for your message.

Fortunately these ecomeasures are being taught in schools
throughout the world, and it would've been truly great if we had
received the same education. Children seem to be far better
informed than their parents!"

I am so glad that The International Year of the Reef (IYOR), NOAA’s Coral Reef Conservation Program and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) have worked together to create such a comprehensive and sensible Project AWARE in many languages to educate both adults and kids around the world.

I have always been fascinated by corals because of their amazing beauty. Now as I further my own education about coral reefs, I'd like to
help others understand the fragility and value of the world’s coral reefs.

I appreciate your friendship and support, Jen.

Hello JoAnne,

Thanks a lot for your invite and for sharing these great load of information with us. I have always been fascinated by Coral Reefs and as a Geologist I did a little bit of studies on African Reefs and their rich deposits of natural resources. Unfortunately like every delicate God's gift to the world, Coral Reefs are fast becoming endagered species and getting gradually extinct.

I wish something serious will be done to safe them from going into complete extinction as they form the habitat for some of the world's most beautiful sea creatures.

Thanks again for sharing!

Thank you JoAnne for a very informative forum. Living in Florida and near the beaches we have been involved with cleanups for a few years now. More people need to realize what they are doing when they leave trash behind and destroy our resources in the name of fun. Keep up the great work!

Hi JoAnne!

What an awesome education you have given us here.  I am so impressed at the magnitude of the information.

There are so many things that we are doing that are having an adverse affect of our sea life - and not just the corals.  Today's news included a report on the Atlantic shores and the huge number of jelly fish that are washing to shore.

There are a lot of things we can do to improve the situation - the question is, will we?  Will it be too little too late?

Thank you for taking the time to share all of this information.

Judy
