Remembering...

.....

Heroes of war,
They were so much more,
Father and brother and friend.
Flags at half mast
For those of the past
To whom our gratitude we send.

We place flowers on the graves

Of those who were brave,
We salute them far and wide.
Seeing poppies galore
While our hearts soar,
remembering proudly those who have died.

We_Honor,_We_Remember...

With friendship,

'Let Us Not Forget!!!'

War Casualties KIA
Revolutionary War 10,623,
War of 1812 6,765 2,260
Mexican-American War 17,435 1,733
Civil War 970,227 184,594
Spanish-American War 4,108 385
World War I 320,710 53,513
World War II 1,078,162 292,131
Korean War 136,935 33,651
Vietnam War 211,471 47,369
Gulf War 760 148'

And now the war in Iraq and Afghanistan...Over 4000 lives lost.

There is nothing 'happy' about war, or those we have lost.

We should spend this day honoring those who gave thier lives in our wars and those who are no longer in our lives.

I am a vietnam era veteram and I lost many friends during the vietnam conflict.  I have also lost friends during the war in Iraq.  I do not celebrate this holiday as 'happy'.  It is a somber and solemn day.

Hi Judy,

Just had to stop by and say...

This is truly one of the most Moving and Inspirational versions I've ever heard.  Especially when combined with the Video, it touches the Heart.

Until I heard this, there was one that I preferred.  Click below for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

May We Live Our Lives Each Day

Honoring Those Who Died,

That We May Live Them In Freedom

God Bless,

Phil

Thought for Today: God gave each of us a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used even one to say, Thank You God? "Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High." Psalm 50:14(KJV)
