Hi Kenneth,
If I never learn anything else, I have learned that I have to sell myself first, then a product or service.
To me it's a real turn off here, if a invitation of friendship comes with a long ad in it! I except their friendship request, but pay no attention to the ad.
To make a long post short, I agree with you!

You're right Kenneth,

I had a blog post on my marketing blog about viral marketing.  I've had two comments on the post that promote a particular blog blasting service as a viral marketing method.  The spammer attemts to make the comment relevant to the post, but it still comes across as a tactic and not a genuine comment or attempt at discussion.

I think forum owners and bloggers need to be on top of this and weed out the offending posts - people will soon learn that it's not a good practise.
