ARTICLE OF VIRTUE with Judy Smith
Posted: Jul 05 2007 06:34 PM

PREFACE...........
Hello All,
It is with total excitement and much pleasure that I present to you the maiden edition of our new weekly forum - ARTICLE OF VIRTUE. In this very special edition, we are featuring an exceptional piece by no other person than the golden lady of our community, Judy Smith with the topic DREAM BIG. I feel there is no better topic at this point in time than this. What a wonderful beginning for us. One would think I selected the topic for her!
Judy's work is sponsored and consummately reviewed here by our prolific business writer and coach - Neil Sperling.
Please join me to congratulate Judy and Neil for working with and encourging me to commence this forum. I earnestly hope you'll enjoy our new forum.

Sincerely,
Sam Sunday.

When Sam first asked me to write an article for his new forum, my first reaction was NO!  I’m not a Writer; I am not Nick Grimshaw, Phil Black, Terry Gorley, Joe Downing or Sam Sunday.  I do not have the fluidity of tongue or keyboard that they have mastered and demonstrate. My mind said “Let me go later, after a few others.  Let me work on it so I can get it perfect, and stick it in the middle of all the rest so it won’t stick out like a sore thumb as being the FIRST.”  But instead, almost as if someone else was writing back to Sam, I accepted the challenge!

I started thinking about the stuff. Where am I with the mission statement and the purpose and the goals?   I remembered a long ago time in my life when I thought I could do anything I wanted to do and be anything I wanted to be? A time before the limitations and fears set in.

As a kid, I dreamed big.  I was going to be a Hollywood star! A famous singer! The first female in outer space!  There were no limits, my goals and dreams were sky high!!  And there was no doubt that I could do anything or be anyone I wanted to be.

What would happen if I took that childlike enthusiasm and the enormity of those childhood dreams and applied them to my purpose, vision and mission statements of today?

If I told you that one of my dreams and goals carries every bit of the enormity of my childhood, you may think I’m crazy, but I do and someday it will be a reality. There is a Martin Luther King, Jr. quote in The Secret:  “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase.  Just take the first step.” I have no idea how I will make that vision a reality, I just know I will.

What goes around comes around.  I dream big again. (And, if one of you calls it a second childhood, watch out! LOL).  If those dreams are possible for me, they are possible for you too.  I love drawing the pictures in my mind, creating the perfect vision.

I love living those creations in my dreams, and I trust it will happen so I can delight in the manifestation of it becoming a reality.  I intend to live my dream!  And for that, I am forever grateful. How about you?

 ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Judy Smith is a proud wife, mother, grandmother, everyone's friend and now writer and author in the making. Her passion and pastime hobby is Mother Nature which resulted in BIRD-ESSENTIALS – www.birdessentals.com . Judy has one of the most interesting and comprehensive bio in the forum. Check it out >>: JUDY’S BIO.

Judy,

This article is full of incredibly valid points. Each point can be a full chapter of a book by itself.

1- Dreaming big as a child does. Why is it we stop dreaming when life hits us square in the face? To be able to ignite that childlike ability to dream big is what made Colonel Saunders a success with Kentucky Fried Chicken "after he had sold his restaurant and retired"

2- Developing a Mission statement for your life. WOW - what an important thing to do. If it is important enough for large companies why don't more of us develop a personal mission statement for our life? Isn't that even more important than a company mission statement?

3- Take the first step. It is no miracle that a man succeeds, the miracle lies in the fact he chose to begin!

Keep Writing Judy

Neil Sperling.

Many thanks to two dear friends, Judy and Neil.

Judy, you have made my day for encouraging me to start this forum. Your speed of response was all I needed to wake up my lazy spirit. I must confess if you had responded less to my call, I would have probably felt dejected and abandoned this project. And don’t tell anyone you’re not a writer, else, with what you have put together here, you’ll have so much to explain.

Same goes to Neil. I took you unawares and in the middle of you 4th July groove, but you shelved everything to one corner and came out to present you shoulder for me to lean on.

Thank you so much my friend.

Silver and gold have I none, all I can give is a prayer of blessings to you and your families as well as all our wonderful friends here in Adland.

Remain ever blessed!

Hello Rose, our community chief Artist,

Thanks for your rich comments and for checking in so early.
Judy is so golden to us and we had to select her to carry the first mantle in the new forum and she's done us proud.

Many regards.

Thanks also Shirley Rushing for posting but you probably have to do it the right way. It is not right to just post your business ad in a member's forum without any reasonable response to the current thread. I don't think such posts are suitable for forums. You might end up killing the business you're supposed to promote. There is nothing wrong if you do that at the end of your signature as stipulated by the community terms. There are other facilities available for every member to use and advertise his/her business here. So sorry you had to force me to delete a post for the first time in my forum, but your post is totally unacceptable please. I however appreciate your visit!
