Hello Venerina,

I am impressed by your photos, obviously you are having fun with that new camera, but there is more to it than that, if I may express my opinion. (Go for it Robert, get yourself hooted!)

Traditionally, in the well to do books of photography they all insist that a picture should contain if not a person at least an animal for the purpose of giving a dimension or at best a distance relevancy to the scenery. (One great way of making a mother in law think she’s popular! Oups!) But you go beyond this and that is smart.

Going beyond this recommendation, as I see it, it creates a resultant impression of them as one and thereby could be, if set into a painting; portray a personality that can only be yours. Now, that is a success if it were to be correct.

It is a massive advantage to be passionate in the search for life in its particular angles.

Now as to the personality, …. let that be for a future forum all to itself. J

First of all ... a very very HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all our friends in the USA. I'll be looking around some of the forums for those traditional yearly stories. I love reading about how you all celebrate.

hehehehehe .... very funny Robert .... so, my reputation precedes me, does it? That's probably because the last time I was in Belgium I managed to raise an eyebrow or two whilst looking for the Belgium chocolate shops... and trying to find my way out of Belgium!!! :-)))

Of course, there is also the time I went chasing after a 1940s gangster style car in Brugge that had been converted into something like a fast food or ice-cream outlet.

Oh yes, and then there was the time I couldn't figure out where to buy the tram ticket.... and ... let's not even mention the river boat trip hehehehe

Yes, I think Belgium had enough of me ....

Ah yes ... there was also another time I was driving to Germany, came off the ferry and got lost in Antwerp and went around that huge busy roundabout a million times at peak time .... when I saw the helicopter flying over, I thought it was time to just take any old exit off .... hehehehehe ... Now you see why it's safer for me to fly!!!

Well... I am sorry that your plans fell through ... but we are getting more and more Belgium clients over here ... so perhaps now's the time to put that group together and get yourself out here and away from the recent SNOW you had .... Brrrrrr!!!!!

I had to go to the Brussels airport the other day, and the frenzy going on there was huge. I asked what it was all about, snow? Obama traveling around? Belgium scratched from the map? But all answered; Do you not know? Have you not heard? Have you come from Mars? before darting away in all different directions. So I had to conclude that it can only be V. on her European sprawl and that all are hoping that an incidental and unsuspecting stopover would give them a chance to snatch a signature from her. J

I understand that your time off has been up to expectations, London is effectively cold damp and dark at this time of the year. But it does have the advantage, amongst others, of guaranteeing to the citizen that if there is little visibility (fog) it’s a sure sign of coming rain, and conversely. As for Granada, we are reading between the lines, Hehehe!

Before I sign off, you asked if I have ever been to your little Paradise Island, The answer is that I had prepared some years back, a flight-plan to go there but, the clients of the charter flight cancelled the day before. So I will stick to the adage that says; “If the dream is big enough, the details do not matter.”

Well the young lady finally arrived and, got off to a good start. True to form was collected late by her enthusiastic hostess- who managed to get lost in the building site belonging to the new terminal they are adding, instead of arriving at Arrivals! GPRS systems dont work on building sites!! Luckily it was a sunny day to sit and wait.

Granada and the Alhambra palace has been suitably inspected and photographed, as has everything else that moves or doesnt move, including a 6 part series of the flames in my chimney. Traffic has been duly held up whilst my lady guest snapped at various sea views on the motorway and statues on busy streets. I think the new camara had something to do with it!!. The village remains intact, as we were too tired to hell raise - but there is always the next time! lol

So now I am planning the return match in Madeira and am checking how to hitchhike from the Airport in Funchal, just in case Madam decides to get her revenge.

And yes - we had a wonderful time! What did anyone expect! LOL

Dear dear Robert ...

All I can say to your post is ..... I wish !!!!!!!!!

The UK was very cold and wet!!! Typical grey London skies and it got dark early in the afternoon.

Meanwhile in Spain, Jenny and I were sipping tea in her back garden and along the seafront until the sun came down giving us magnificent displays of colours.

It was awesome! Of course, now that I am back in Madeira, it's been a bit of a shock going from the 3 degrees in the UK to the 19 degrees here. I'm sure I'll get use to it again though heheheheh

When are you planning your trip to Madeira? :-P
