Our forum features a member of the AdlandPro community each week who is truly a bright and *SHINING STAR*. It is a person that may not necessarily be a "high-profile" person per say, but rather someone that is not only a great friend to many, but also has a good heart and truly cares about others.

The meaning of the name JOE;

JOE m English
Short form of JOSEPH

JOSEPH

Pronounced: JO-sef (English), zho-ZEF (French), YO-zef (German)

From the Latin Iosephus, which was from the Greek Ιωσηφος (Iosephos), which was from the Hebrew name יוֹסֵף (Yosef) meaning "he will add". In the Old Testament Joseph is the eleventh son of Jacob. Because he was the favourite of his father, his older brothers sent him to Egypt and told their father that he had died. In Egypt, Joseph became an advisor to the pharaoh, and was eventually reconciled with his brothers when they came to Egypt during a famine. This is the name of two characters in the New Testament: Joseph the husband of Mary and Joseph of Arimathea. Also, rulers of the Holy Roman Empire have had this name.

I must say that this honor has taken me by surprise. I truly cannot imagine why I have been selected to be in the "starlight". I do appreciate all of you for accepting me here at Adland and I thank you for this honor.

Hello, my name is Joe Pat Downing. I was named after St. Joseph and St. Patrick, but my grandfather did not like the long names and thus my name was shortened. I was born in Las Cruces, NM in 1958. My parents lived in the agricultural areas, but owned restaurants. I was raised in NM, CO and TX with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Finally my family settled down in a small west Texas town. My life was full of chores of milking cows and goats, feeding pigs, horses, chickens and working around the barns and helping my brother with a very large newspaper route. When I was finished with chores, I grabbed my satchel of Grit newspapers or my box of garden and flower seeds or boxes of greeting cards and rode my bicycle into town bringing the good things of life to everyone. I mowed lawns, worked in a full service gas station, dishwasher for my dad at his restaurant, plowed fields, cowboyed and rodeo. I was baptized and accepted my all loving Lord Jesus during high school. Then I graduated from high school in 1976.

I spent the next few years in the US ARMY as a Pathfinder, working in the oil field as a derrick hand, more cowboying. I was too busy working to date, so one day on my prayer walk, I climbed a mountain and asked God to send me the wife he
had waiting for me. A couple of years later after helping build a small ski area, I met the most beautiful woman while she was singing at a BBQ. She dedicated the song “when I dream” to me and three months later, my dream came true and we were married. It has been 24 splendid years with my wife, best friend and soul mate Natalie! We have two wonderful children: son is 17 and daughter is 10. Since they are home-schooled by their wonderful Mom, we spend most of our time educating each other.

Somewhere in all of that with the support and lots of pushing from Natalie, I graduated from college with dual major in Geology and Computer Sciences. Since college, I have worked as water monitoring scientist, software engineer, pecan orchard care taker, network administrator and as a marketing technician. I have been working full time making a living, but have always been feeding my entrepreneurial spirit with exciting ventures. I created a fax newsletter company that featured motivation, inspiration and humor called AdPressions. It was the most exciting midnight project ever!

I took ill a few years ago with severe sinusitis. I had developed an allergy to almost everything and had constant sinus pain. One doctor overdosed me on steroids that caused many illnesses there on. I suffered with a lot of pain and
extreme discomforts and a really messed up liver. I became a very grouchy man and everything irritated me. I don’t know how, but my angelic wife Natalie stood beside me. After losing my youngest brother to similar health issues and
the doctors giving up, I started searching for answers. I finally found other people on line that had the same or similar symptoms. It took a few years, but we concluded that our problems were derived from dehydration. I fell in love with networking with other people, everyone was so helpful. We looked at special hydrating diets, sports drinks, juices and many vitamins and mineral products without good results. My body was so acidic; I was limited to very few foods. Then one day after praying for a miracle I received an email with information about a new product that was designed to help dehydrated people. I sent off for some of the product and it has literally changed my life. Since dehydration can cause many other illnesses, I found myself sharing it with everyone. Marilyn,

I believe that the true "shining stars" are those who take the time to nominate someone for such an honor and those who stop by to congratulate the star. There are very few places in this world that gives such notice to each other. This is part of what makes Adland so special. I have made some wonderful friends here and hope to make many more. Hello Joanne! Thank you for enjoying my bio. When I write my book may I put you down for a dozen? :) Being in the spotlight is something I really am not use too. It is a time of reflection and has helped me grow in the realization of just how good friends are here at Adland. Hi Joe,

No Hummingbirds migrate by riding on the backs of elephants. I have documentation for that in one of my 4 year old grandson's story books - so it has to be TRUE!

Hey Terry! Where have you been? Thank you for agreeing with what everyone else has so graciously written. You shouldn't try to come up with anything else nice to say because the compliment funds ran out with... yep, Judy was the last to debit from the PayPal account. Hello Kathleen! I am very glad you stopped by. Come on down here where the sun shines ALL the time (even while it is snowing). Yes, I proudly served. I wanted to see the world and be the best that I could be and avoid college at all costs. Life in the Army will definitely help a young person grow up quickly. I learned how to drink beer, bowl, drive a tankish type vehicle and walk!. Hey, in our town we at least had the smarts to own horses to get around. :)

Two Brothers

Two brothers worked together on the family farm. One was married and had a large family. The other was single. At the day's end, the brothers shared everything equally, produce and profit.

Then one day the single brother said to himself, "It's not right that we should share equally the produce and the profit. I'm alone and my needs are simple." So each night he took a sack of grain from his bin and crept across the field between their houses, dumping it into his brother's bin.

Meanwhile, the married brother said to himself, "Its not right that we should share the produce and the profit equally. After all, I'm married and I have my wife and my children to look after me in years to come. My brother has no one, and no one to take care of his future." So each night, he took a sack of grain and dumped it into his single brother's bin.

Both men were puzzled for years because their supply of grain never dwindled. Then one dark night the two brothers bumped into each other.
