2	I am glad to introduce Ana Maria’s Article of Virtue - My Life and My Tree. Ana Maria sure knows how to stray us from the ever busy world to natural reality. Here she uses a very clear and sharp technique to compare man’s life and the life of Mother Nature.

She employs the illustration of the tree and its life to alert us and warn us about the safety of our lives in an environment we remain antagonistic to the trees. She pricks our conscience on how much we care and are concerned about our environment knowing our existence and that of our family is tied to their existence. With a playful glimpse she depicts to us the agony of the nature under man’s inhuman activities that cause nature’s destruction. By using her dream, the dream of a person who feels like a child to express her feelings , she causes us think deeper on how our lives affect nature and in turn the mankind yet unborn.

MY LIFE AND MY TREE

w	It is a pity to leave our childhood in a corner of our minds covered with the dust of oblivion. Let’s play; let’s not forget to play. We have no balls, but we have words; we have no grits, though we have thoughts; we have no cars, yet we have questions; we have no dolls, but we just have answers!

But do we really have answers?

When I have a tooth-ache, I see a dentist; when my heart hurts, well… I see another doctor. What shall I do when my tree aches?

The two of us, My Tree and I, breathe the same air. Moreover, my Tree takes care of my air, to be clean and fresh and breathable. What do I do for its air? It fights for me and my health; it is the first line defender of Mother Nature and of our lives, despite our selfish deeds.

Am I able to do the same like my Tree does? Are YOU?

My life…your life…life of a TREE…life of a man!

I’m drowning in my own thoughts, dreams, reflections, illusions, deceptions. I actually look out the window, bootless. I take a look at the tree in front of my house, my tree, yes your tree: big, magnificent, eternal. It is bending; No, I dare not address our tree as “IT”, it has life like me and like you! “He is my Tree” Yes, He is bending his branches with grace, fondling the ground. He’s gloomy…he’s sad. I feel the sorrow in his yellow leaves – his yellow eyes; I try to find out his reasons, but I can’t. I sink into my reverie…

The same tree appeared in my dream; imposing and noble. The faded leaves are telling the story of a stray life among the seasons. The dream of a tree is ETERNITY, YOUTH, and GRANDEUR. I pick his every feeling and try to bring them deep into my soul. I want to live this experience along with him, near upon him and in his thoughts. I am sinking, please help!

I see it dying everyday; so much pain, so much tribulation. The leaves are growing pale, they are turning yellow, and

the branches that used to be imposing are now searing in front of my eyes, ending up their lives as brushwood. Some are lucky and escape from the fate’s blow. I remember his youth and splendor. I would give anything to see him again, just one more time, like he once used to be: haughty and magnificent. I hid among the patter brushwood, rummaged by the wind. I feel him so sad and lonely; as if, in his desperation he’s struggling to open his eyes; as if, in his madness, he’s crying to the Sky, bagging for some more time, even if just a little more; it is useless however. Autumn’s spells tempt him more and more.

I open my eyes and see an empty and lonely tree. There is just a bare trunk left of his grandeur; a seldom resting place for a stray bird. But she is also disappointed and rushes away soon. In front of him a seed take his chance to spread its too tiny roots. Soon will snow and the seed will die, just like the Tree. The heavy coat of life won’t be able to warm them. They will die together.

The Sky seams to have mercy of his suffer. The wind storks him gently, disheveling his brushwood, interlaced by agony. The Sun is also sending him joyful smiles. Everything seams to become alive. Even The Tree is stretching his brushwood to the sky. Although leafless, one can see his pride. He greets the Sky… or is he bowing? Who knows, what unseen divinity is he worshiping? To whom is he speaking? I’d like to understand his each and every sign, each and every move. A hollow gets its outlines. It is the first time I am noticing it; it shapes like two cold and thin lips, trying to tell me something…might be a story, might be some complain… but who knows?

No one knows what My Tree is thinking?

The two of us –My Tree and I – are sitting side by side; I am caressing his branches, now too rugged. I am feeling his vibrations with my every touch. I’m feeling him smiling… and also his Thanks…

The first snow! He is standing and bearing everything. He would love to run, I can feel it; we live together. From now on we are one and the same; we live one through another. The seed died about three days ago. And the frost brought ice even in my soul. Soon it looks like a snowman, covered by a white powder. The branches are bowing under the weight of the snow and My Tree is crying. I hear him every night wailing his fate. The burden is too heavy for him. What did he do wrong to deserve this?

I wake up of my dream. The tree is still there proudly looking at me. Despite his yellowish leaves he’s struggling to hide his pain. A man approaches him, and without even thinking, he is striking the Tree’s thick trunk with his ax. The grief seizes him before falling.

One of his branches is catching hold of my window as if stretching out his hands in a farewell, I am swimming in sorrow. Life of a Tree, life of a man… Now, he is lying inanimate on the moist ground. I am stroking him while telling him Good-Bye. I only hope his “after life” will be more quite without me and the traps of seasons.

Once lofty and magnificent, now…just nothing; and the same is my life without The Tree… life of a man and life of a Tree; life of Mankind and life of Mother Nature, who can tell the difference?

Let’s play! Never forget to play! Think of your childhood and think of your children… they have balls, do they have air? They have toy-cars but is their air clean? They have dolls, do they have trees? They have words and do have questions! They have our answers, but do we really have answers? Do we really have Trees for them?!... A tree for each of them! DO we care enough?

Think about it! Life of a man… life of a tree…

When Sam asked me to do a review of an article by a wonderful person and friend like AnaMaria I had no concept of how difficult it would be. Especially in light of the high regard I have for AnaMaria. A fact that makes it far more difficult to be totally objective in reviewing the article as Sam requested me to be. As I read through the article the first thought that came to me was that I was reading poetry. A very good poetry.

As I read through the article the first thought that came to me was that I was reading poetry. A very good poetry. As I read each line, more and more vivid images of the Tree and a Child that loved it, came to my mind; which is exactly what good poetry is meant to do. Good poetry, more so than just articles, should evoke strong feelings of emotion. AnaMaria truly succeeds in evoking love, majesty, pain and in particular great sadness in what she has written. The transition from dream to waking state was graphically and masterfully done. My only other comment would be that I personally felt the "article", poem, seemed a bit unfinished. I felt there was something left out. Something more to say. I needed to read on, feel on and flow on!!

I had to come back and see what is happening here. It doesn't surprise me in the least that you Anamaria succeeding in putting a spark under all our Adland friends and brought out the best in them.

This topic is crucial to our survival just as much as protecting our physical beings. In fact they are one and the same. It is important to build awareness in all to protect our environment otherwise we are heading for a point of no return.

Great job my sweet friend. You did an amazing job here and you Sam deserve accolades for giving us Anamaria and this great article.

... well ... seams to me that the greeting was the easy part of this post! LOL
First of all I have to say I was so very surprised to come in to Adland - at last!!!- and to find my Article posted here?! Than, reading all the reviews and comments?!...
it is interesting to read what others think about
something I wrote!
Last time, this happened to me when I was in school! LOL May be this is why, writing this article, brought the child out of me :-) ... anyway it wasn't so difficult, after all most of my relatives are wondering if I'll ever really grow up LOL

Now, a few words about how this writing came to "live" ...

Sami's proposal, to be the next to present an article put me in an odd position; I never thought of me being able to write anything??? than, what should I write about, mainly after Peter's outstanding Article of Virtue - We Shall Never Forget! - in order to be: interesting, attractive and of interest for many around and in the mean time being me or a piece of me?! YOU, my friends, were the ones who have driven me to this topic, with your comments about me and the trees! I realized, watching my pictures that there are so very few of them when I'm not accompanied by at least a tree! Trees are so very much part of my life!!! From here, only the time was the one and a bit of inspiration determining the birth of this essay! I have to tell I was and still am, a bit concerned whether it's good enough for this thread and deserves your time!? I'm glad if you think it is!

OK, hope you can see my points above as I'm not in my best shape due to a nasty flu or what?! ... this is why I have to apologies to EVERYONE OF YOU and mostly to Sami, for being here so late and for just this one post! I assure you, I'll be back as soon as I'll be able - hopefully even tomorrow - to reply properly to each and every one of you as you deserve. Reading your posts I've seen there are things I have to answer (and I'm happy for that) For now, I'll do my best to read the next to come and another few (in case I'm able to do even that) for a while and I'll have a hot tea and aspirin and sleep for tomorrow to be as new as it gets! LOL

Before leaving I'd love to THANK Sami for making me to write this and Dimi and Gunther for taking some of their time to read "my masterpiece" LOL and do their best to write such great introduction and reviews! I know from experience how difficult this is :-) Without you, my Article wouldn't be any of virtue LOL Hm, I'm not sure if at this moment my mind works properly in any language, but English LOL

Another thing,People forget to dream and have imagination.If they would just stop long enough and go into the corners of there mind they would be able to bring out the child in themselves,the creativity in them.No one has fun any more there so caught up in the hussel and bustle of there days,there loosing time, start being a kid at heart and have joy and laugh and experience the wonders of your mind and your world.

Sorry it took me so long! For a day or two I even forgot I didn't finished my replies here :-(

Letting imagination to fly on his own and pleasure is so rewarding and relaxing?! Most of the time, "grown-ups" forgot to dream and thus they end up all stressed and tired of their life.

One must be able to dream, laughter and even make fun of him/herself and all these makes/leads one HAPPY!

I am so sad that you are not feeling well. I had some nasty flu back at the end of January and this is the first week since that I can say that I feel 100%. As I have you by light years in age - we can attribute it to a slower healing with age!!

I've loved to see you pop into forums every since I joined Adland. Your heart was always shared and this writing brings your soul to a greater light for us to see.

... at least now I'm not feeling alone when I say: I can feel them!!! (about my friends here on Adland)

(my husband use to ask me things about you and that is what I've told him; it was difficult for him to understand but coming from me, I guess few things surprise him LOL)

Sometimes there's an advantage to coming late to a party!
In my case, I'm just now finished reading AnaMaria's wondrous writing on the life of a tree and childhood and all of us... and it is Mother's Day Weekend her in the states.

How many of us remember being friends with trees when we were children? Seems Ana still is! Now that is a secret I have kept hidden from everyone so well, i'd even forgotten it myself!

Thank you Ana for bringing out the love in Nature for Trees and life this mothers day weekend...

Thank you for your greetings; Ester is long gone and we are heading to a looong hot summer so far with looong and abundant rains?! Are we going to leave in the rain forests soon?! Who knows?! I would rather prefer some more trees without so much rain!?! Floods are not quite necessary! I've just read Black See will grow with 5 M in the future!!! ... so what can I say to you?! That would be quite NASTY!

Amazing, how many times "great discovers" are made by chance; who knows, maybe you all are right and I should sit down, take my pencil and lave it draw my thoughts, and most of all my feelings! It might come out something good of it LOL
In fact, I'm quite sure of it, but who would be interested?! Are there some?!

There is something that bothers me thou: as I've also said to Rina I prefer expressing myself using multiple languages; I don't know, I feel that way come out more evident what I mean?! ... and by some reason, when I find the right word or expression for my thoughts and/or feeling, in the very moment they are not the same anymore; they become plain and meanless or un-important! Words, make thoughts and feelings so usual and common?! Noting interesting to share about them!

I'm not sure how I did, but even I like the work I managed with this Article?! Hm, and that's interesting LOL

Trees worth to be hugged as well as kids; they can be so unselfish and rewarding :-)

Hi all,

So sorry I disappeared for a while from the net for some official assignment that took me out of the developed world to the deep jungle! Well, it's part of my job and I am not complaining, just that I was completely denied access to any form of communication. Ooops! not denied, per say, but could not have easy access!!!!!!!1

I missed the community, I missed the forum and most touchingly, I missed you all. However, it's great to be back though still briefly and many thanks to everyone of you that kept the forum's candle burning.

My friend Rina and Mommy Terry, you almost missed out of AnaMaria's bestseller work, buth thank God you made it and it is mavellous to have you girls around with your usual wonderful contributions.

Half of 2008 is almost gone and we are looking forward to having greater fun and exciting success in the remaining months ahead. It is my prayer for everyone of you.
