Well, what goes around comes around, and I am honored to now shift roles in Sam’s ARTICLES OF VIRTUE forum, and introduce you to one of the finest ladies I know! Thank you, Sam for your confidence in me and this opportunity and honor.

The privilege of introducing her is so apropos. Terry Gorley is not only my friend; she is my confidant, mentor, sister and partner. Her article takes "DREAM BIG" to the next level. And, her words in ATTITUDE & BELIEVABILITY and the story she tells us are magic.

There is magic in being reminded that we are what we think. There is magic in overcoming life’s challenges by adopting the right attitude and then spreading the news, so others will be encouraged that they can do the same.

And without more preambles, let me introduce you to ATTITUDE & BELIEVABILITY by Terry Gorley. Welcome home, Terry!

Thank you so much, Sam, for the invitation to make a submission for your Articles of Virtue. It’s greatly appreciated and is a wonderful honor.

Since Judy’s article was about Dreaming Big, I thought I would follow up with Attitude and how our thoughts affects us because if you don’t have the right Attitude, it doesn’t matter how big your Dream is, its highly unlikely you will achieve it. You must have Believability and Faith. You must be able to focus on your Dreams and have set goals.

Long before “The Secret” became popular, I believed in the principals of what it teaches. I didn’t know the “how to think” or the total effects of our thoughts, but I did know the difference between thinking positive and thinking negative.

I learned through learning about Depression how one’s thinking can become distorted and how that affects one’s Attitude.

My husband is a wonderful example of someone who has the “right” Attitude. We were married when he was twenty-one and I was a month away from my eighteenth birthday. He had a “can do” Attitude and I believed in him. Everything we achieved, we achieved together. Through his Attitude and my Believability we were able to achieve the goals we had set out for ourselves.

After the wildfire destroyed the mill he worked at for almost thirty-two years, we lost that winning Attitude. I had always felt rich despite our middle class lifestyle. Before the fire he provided a good income and we were able to accommodate our wants and needs adequately.

After the fire, he still provided for us with a good income, but our cost of living increased considerably and we didn’t have quite enough to cover all of our basic needs especially since the cost of gas is high and he is now traveling 2 hours to get to work and home again.

A few months ago, I realized just how bad our Attitude and thinking had become, but I didn’t know what to do about it. Then I saw “The Secret” being discussed on Oprah. I wrote, “I am forever grateful to you for the abundance of love, health, wealth and happiness I now have in my life”

I knew it was something he needed to see too, however before that happened we were watching this comedy called, “Lucky” or maybe it was “Unlucky” anyway, when it was over, he just looked at me and I realized he finally got it! It was a magical moment! Out of nowhere his leprechaun had returned to his shoulder! Since that moment we have become “rich” again. No! our bills haven’t changed, but we no longer put everything on hold because, “we can’t afford it.” We’ve been doing necessary home improvements since without racking up more debt, because the money needed for them simply “appears.”

Believe in the Magic of Believing. Believe in Yourself. Have Faith that all is well and above all watch closely what you THINK.

Hello everyone,

With so much pleasure, I hereby present the second edition of Article of Virtue with our lady of letters, Terry Gorley. Just as Judy has mentioned in her introduction, Terry has done a great job by making sure that our presentation is marked with clear direction. Her article, Attitude and Believability, gives a flowing support to Judy's Dream Big and therefore supplies everyone of us with that smooth and tasty zest while reading and making the best out of both write-ups.

Nick Grimshawe has supplied the best "bottom line" to today's article. There couldn't have been a better review of Terry's work than this, and one could see every elements of professionality brought into the review.

Let me use this opportunity to thank Terry for making available such an attitude provoking and reality presentation. This is straight from the heart. And Nick Grimshawe has put it vividly, you rockkkk!!

Terry what a wonderful article you haven't written here. It is wonderful to see a couple married for as long as you and your husband, and still doing it right after all these years! That's fantastic. and I can tell how much the two of you are in love with each other.

In regards to marriage it takes two to make it work. Love does not stand alone. It takes Committment along with Attitude and Believability.

I'm reminded of Michael Martin Murphy's song "I come from a long line of love." All of my Grandparents were married for more than 50 years. They lived up to "til death do us part."

I'm so excited to see that every visitor to the forum is having one or two things new to learn from Terry's article of virtue: Attitude & Believability.

Terry, thanks for giving the forum so much attention and equally taking the time to explain and counsel each and everyone of us on this very important aspect of our daily life.

I like your statement to Marilyn on marriage:

This is so true and I think we all need to follow the right way. And how about this one to Pauline Spence:

Nick and Neil, you guys are great gifts to Adlandpro community. Your positive attributes especially when it comes to assisting others is legendary. I see that in your comments here and in your forums/ websites. I share and believe in your position that "as your try to help others in their areas of need, you, at the same time, end up learning and enriching yourself the more"

Hi Sam, Terry, Neil, Nick, Thomas and everyone who has visited this forum.

I cannot help but want to comment on something Terry said and now you have already commented on, Sam. If two of us have picked up on it, it must be important - it did catch my attention. Bad things happen. There is no changing that, but its how we handle the bad things that makes the difference.

Terry, that is right on!! We sometimes have no control over what comes our way. These are happenings over which we either have no control, or we have precipitated with a bad choice, decision or action. Once it happens, it has happened!!!

I used to be one of those people who "REACTED" to everything that happened. I analyzed it to death, blamed it on others or circumstances out of my control. I amaze myself sometimes with the 180° turn I have done.

We've all hear the old cliche - "What is the point in crying over spilled milk?" Well, DON'T! It is not worth the energy!! It creates negative energy and self-doubt among others. Terry has the solution, and that is to "hang out" with the positive - everything and everyone - saturate yourself with it. Every day and in every way, give yourself a solid dose of good old fashioned [ositive stuff!!!

Before long you start to wonder how you ever spent any energy at all worry warting over something you could no longer do anything about.

Same, this topic and forum are just as incridible now as they were. Blessings, my friend!! And, thank you Terry, for continuously feeding us with your words of wisdom!!

My apologies for not getting back as often as I would like.

Judy, I'm like you ... lol ... we already knew that, but you referred to my comment "Bad things happen. There is no changing that, but its how we handle the bad things that makes the difference."

Like you, I used to react. Before I had time to give any conscious thought to a situation, I reacted ... generally with a negative attitude.

I've since learned to take a moment and then take action. Taking action allows you to take control of the moment ... of the situation. Taking action can be a conscious thought like, "What can I do?" ... "What needs to be done?"

Again, its about being aware of your thoughts. Being in the moment ... being present.

Wow,

Sam, Judy, Nick and Thomas,

What a line up. It could fill Carnegie Hall.

Follow that with the great Terry and we have a show to top all.

This is not just about boosting egos.

On a daily basis I see what happens at Adland. There are marketers and networkers and gossips and jokers and encouragers and...........

Yes ''All life is represented here'' in all it's forms negative and positive and with its share of sorrow and humour, BUT, above all there those whos obvious caring and patient ways oversee us all. The folks that I mentioned are among that elite. These guys are not overforceful or moralistic or ''In your face'' but are always here, popping up in forums showing real interest and offers of help, with prayers and worldly solutions in proportion to the need.

I know that none of these folk seek fame. They have shown us all that when a variety of ideas and skills and human understanding come together the result is awesome.

This forum is just that, awesome.

My daily contact with challenged and tortured lives has led me to realise that my problems are real but managed whereas others have lost that feeling of control. My dealings with Terry gave me a new way of dealing with ''Where do I start'' when facing a new client.

My training and experience had taught me a system. A system that had a start and a goal, but, I was sometimes aware that the person in front of me didn't share my knowledge of NLP or hypnotic power and had to learn before I could progress. The main thing that I have learned through Terry is to be grateful for now. Now I know that I teach my client just that.

When talking to a man who faced several months of depression and fear whilst being held on bail for a crime he didn't commit I was able to say ''I just saw a film of a guy in Zimbabwe who has been beaten every night for a month for asking for his seized lands back'' and to relate that he was grateful to be alive because his friends had been taken somewhere else and killed. My client could relate because at least he was sure that he would have a chance to prove he was innocent. He picked up his heart, set some goals and did just that.

All these guys are tireless workers who seem to show no signs of there toil.

They show an attitude of virtue.

Hello Roger,

I have always admired your style and smoothness of writing and contributions to issues. You know how to put the one to one and easily mix them to produce a perfect, rugged and convincing two! Everyone that wants to learn and progress to success must start with a goal in mind and as you rightly put it 'being grateful for now" is a great joker to a blissful and successful future.

What's that about a Zimbabwean Farmer? I have one as a good friend who is now living here in Nigeria. His story is another day's article of virtue. I know what you mean.

I know from the time in my life when I worked with challenged individuals, they taught me as much about life, as I was able to give them. Some of those moments, were the most profound moments of my life.

Just wonderful Terry. I Loved your story. You know how much I am a believer in Attitude. The secret was one of the best features I had ever seen with Opra. It is amazing what a little thing like attitude can do for our life.

I've learned to be grateful for what I have at this moment because I don't know what the next moment may bring. It may be good ... it may be bad, but as long as I'm grateful in this moment it really doesn't matter because all we have is in this moment.

Love, forgiveness, gratefulness ... with those three ingredients prevalent in life, happiness, health and yes I believe even wealth will follow.

My heart goes out to people treated in this matter. I can relate to such stories as this, but in a different form of abuse, called mental, many have tried, but failed to succeed. I'm also an endless tireless worker, and show no signs of toil, but do show a great deal of attitude of virtue.

I am not surprised one bit of the choices made for the authors of these articles. Terry and Judy have taught me much here at Adland. So much that I just had to join their group called the Energized Marketeers. The attitudes these ladies have is infectious.

Terry has always spoken from her heart to me about everything. She is the dearest of friends. Terry has helped me stick to the basics and brought me about 180° in my thoughts about desitny. I read everything Terry writes for it reflects heavily about her believability and faith.

Thank you Terry for being a great encourager and believing in all of us. You are very much appreciated.

I have truely searched myself and came to the conclusion that if you are blessed with the right set of people as friends, theN you'll have a lot of things going great for you. It is one thing to have discovered Adlandpro but that discovery only bless me and brought me onto the next level when I stumbled on and held onto wonderful and inspirational friends like you guys. Attitude and Believability, the difference between those who fail and those who thrive. It is so easy to adopt a negative attitude without even knowing it. To think positively will lift you to a higher level.

Negative thoughts create emotional dis-ease which in turn creates physical disease. To heal the body we must first heal the mind and this is done through positive thinking.

Terry, your article, which is one of great inspiration, encouraging one to adopt a positive attitude, is an article to be read by all. A very well written piece, with a 'hint of romance and a huge sense of passion. Passion to overcome the negativities of life and to turn them around with a positive attitude.

To gain a positive attitude one must first believe in oneself and have great faith in those who share our lives, dreams and goals.

There are two roads in life and we choose which one to take. We can take the negative road which will take us steps backwards or we can take the positive road which will lead us forward, closer to reaching the next rung on the ladder of achievement.

We must take a regular check on which road we are on, it is so easy to take the wrong road and not realise it until we notice that we are beginning to slide backwards.

My body is diseased but my mind is healthy. If I allowed myself to become depressed about my disease I would adopt a negative attitude which would only encourage my disease.

I am positive in my attitude as I help to find missing children and have great faith that many of them will be found. By channeling my energy in this manner and having the believability, I am confidant that I will overcome my disease.

Wow! The more this forum grows is like an expanding universe of thoughts. I was just reading your article again Terry and of course being full of wisdom, another thought came to me after reading this

"how one’s thinking can become distorted"

I see people around me all day long that have this disease. I have to wonder if they don't realize that their thoughts are not helping them. They must think it is the right thoughts OR they just are not aware of the "stinkin thinkin" problem they have.

Being here with all of you surely helps one realize if their thoughts are on track or not. I have definitely had my share of them. I have to keep aware and alert for all thoughts or else.

I am grateful for all of you and your openess to speak of these things. I am learning much from all of you. Thank you!!!!!

I can identify!! 100%!!! Being here is like a wake up call sometimes. I can be off track and read one of your posts or someone else's and it pulls me back.

Being a creature of habit as most of us are, I am finding that my thinking had become a "habit" as well. We used to call it "stinkin' thinkin'" And it became so much a habit that by the time I was ready to start changing things a bit, I found myself having to PRACTICE. I faked it until I made it so to speak!! Not a day goes by when my thinkin' is 100% unstinkin' - So, here I am!! And when things get out of wack, I can always count on one of you to yank me back.

Old habits are not only hard to break, they are often hard to keep broken. There's comfort in the familiar, perhaps?

Thanks for your re-visit. Your point on "Stinkin Thinkin" has fanned out a lot of 'recalls' concerning my day-to-day living and I should think it's also making deep impression on our other readers. If there is one gift I appreciate so much form the Creator, it is the gift of "Friendship" Personally, I've derived so much beneficial insights to life through corrections, discovery, advise, competition and even abuses by friends. Sometimes, as Judy explained, you suddenly discover that what you initially thought you can secretly indulge in is already known by others maybe through their actions or reactions. Then you see the need to fake/ hide yours or just take up the courage and make a change for good. Other times through encouragements from friends you just re-discover yourself in a completely different aspect you initially thought you're no good, Terry is teaching us this in her Believability. God probably created so many of us for the purpose of interaction and being helpful to one another especially in the area of influencing each other's self-believability through friendship. It couldn't have been so difficult for him to create one Super Being to dominate the whole universe or even live here all alone by Himself.
I am grateful for your rich input here, Thank you.

Also my thanks to our Lady of Courage, Blanka, I see a huge blankness in the community without you with those pep inclusions that raise our excitement to high heavens, you're a wonderful personality here and we all love you so much.

Hello Joe & Everyone,

Welcome back and thank you for sharing your thoughts on "distorted thinking." I knew about "stinkin' thinkin', but until I sought the help of a counselor for my Depression and read "Feeling Good, The New Mood Therapy" by Dr David Burns, I didn't really understand about distorted thinking. Although distorted thinking is a form of stinkin' thinkin' its in a class of its own as is "stinkin' thinkin'.

Stinkin' Thinkin' comes from personal negativity. It comes from being a pessimist and is magnified with low self-esteem and gossip.

Distorted thinking often comes from Depression and low self-esteem. Low self-esteem can be a factor in the Depression.

Both forms of thinking can be challenged when we as individuals take the time to "catch" ourselves and deliberately change our thoughts until it becomes a habit to think more positively.

When I first went to the counselor she had me write down every negative thought I had for a week. Beside each negative thought I was to write the positive statement that would replace it. I was astounded! It didn't take long and I did the excerise automatically.

There's a difference between a negative thought and a negative emotion even though they are connected. A negative thought would be something like, "Its raining, what an ugly day." You would change it to something like, "Rain or shine its a beautiful day!" or "The farmers are happy!"

A negative emotion is one of anger, etc.

A word of caution ... NEVER ignore a negative emotion. Our emotions were never meant to be ignored and to ignore them is an invitation to trouble. Acknowledge the emotion and ask yourself "Why do I feel this way?" "What can I do about the way I feel?"

In cases of anger ... "Why did I over react?" What I can do next time?"

How many times have you done something silly and called yourself, "Stupid?" ... Catch yourself and change it immediately! "I'm not stupid, I just made a silly mistake!" See how easy it is!

There is so much more to write on this topic, but it gives a general idea as a place to begin in changing your thoughts.

I have come to learn so much from your explanation - the difference between negative thoughts and negative emotions, why negative emotions should not be ignored and how they can be managed and turned to positive emotions.

Waw, I for sure missed lots of great things around here the time I was away!!! This, everything here is great; I have to learn some more words to express what I really think! As I have to regain my practice of using English I say just a pure and simple

from all my heart!
