Re: Celebrating Veterans Day -- Honoring All Who Served Posted: Nov 11 2008 11:00 PM |
Thank You JoAnne,
Everyone needs to know how important this date in history is.
My father was 100% disabled Marine Corp Veteran from the Korean war. My Cousin also was 100% disabled Army Veteran from the Viet Nam war. My nephew is a Veteran from Iraq, who is currently working at the Pentigon. I was also engaged to a young man in 1968 who is still MIA in Viet Nam.
You must also have ties to the Marine Corp.

     Because of You, Unknown
Soldier
By
Courtney Tanabe
Because
of you, I am here
Because
of you, I am able to live freely
Yet
I do not know you
And
I have not done anything for you
But
there you stand, ready to fight
And
there you are prepared to die
For
me
You've
fought before
And
you'll fight again
For
someone you don't know
So
thank you Unknown Soldier
Fighting
for me
I'm
here because of you
And
I owe my future to you

Thank you, Bev, for joining me to honor our veterans on Veterans Day!
We all owe an eternal debt of gratitude to all of those such as your dad, cousin, nephew and former fiance who have defended our freedom as members of the armed forces. Please tell your nephew that my family and I honor him for his service to our country.
Yes, Bev, I do have ties to the Marine Corps. For that matter, all freedom-loving Americans have ties to the Marine Corps. I also have ties to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. The relationship is simply this: I am indebted to them for my freedom.
I do, however, love the model of the Marine Corps, which, means, of course, "Forever Faithful." I think it is a suitable motto for all Americans.
